Living Firme MasterMind

Sharpen your business and personal skills.

Mastermind groups have been around forever! At 21, Benjamin Franklin created a Mastermind group, which he called a “Junto.” It was a diverse group that included printers, a cabinetmaker, a clerk, and a bartender! The Junto led not only to the personal development of each member but also to innovations like, a public hospital and the first public library.

Napoleon Hill wrote about the mastermind group in his book Think and Grow Rich. He said:No two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind [the master mind].”

The Mastermind group requires, confidentiality, willingness to both give and receive advice and ideas, and a commitment to support each other with total honesty, respect and compassion. Each group member is empowered to speak from experience, as well as from the heart. We realize that as busy people, we don’t always take the time to celebrate the small victories that can lead to big gains over our challenges so… Acknowledgements and celebrations of achievements, are mandatory! Advice is appreciated and criticism is always above all, constructive.

As the facilitator, Living Firme is tasked with making sure that conversations are deep and balanced, and that all mastermind group meeting agenda items are covered in the time allotted. We meet for 1 hour each week and there are no more than 8 members plus a Living Firme facilitator.

This program is a direct result of our own personal mastermind group. If you qualify, you too could be talking through your goals with people that are making it happen for their lives, their businesses and their communities, every week.

What happens during meetings?

The meeting starts with everyone in the group sharing a success they had from the last meeting. Then, there may be a short education segment to discuss a topic or a chapter from a book. We then have the “Hot Seats” portion of the meeting which takes the bulk of the time. We end with everyone setting a goal to accomplish before the next meeting.

What is a “Hot Seat”?

A hot seat is where you get the opportunity to address your question or problem to the group. You’re forced to gain clarity about what you are asking, so you can explain it. The rest of the members brainstorm to help provide solutions. You will find that you’ll get more ideas and insights than you can generate on your own.

Depending on the number of members and the length of the meeting, a hot seat can last from 10 to 30 minutes. Hot seats should be part of every meeting, and all members should get to be in the hot seat at least once a month.

Do I Have to Participate in The “Hot Seat”?

The “hot seat” is the essence of the mastermind group. It’s where you get your problems addressed and everyone contributes to the discussion to help you. You don’t want to miss out on this important benefit. This is one of the main reasons people come to a mastermind.

Some people feel shy or introverted or they worry they may not have an idea to contribute. But the groups are small and the facilitator puts everyone at ease. You’ll be surprised how much everyone can learn from you, too.

Everyone gets a chance to speak in turn, this is not a free for all. The facilitator gives equal weight to everyone. Many times you will have an idea to contribute, but if not, you’re not required to.

Where do your groups meet?

The Mastermind Groups meet online via video conference and by teleconference.

How often and for how long do you meet?

We meet for 1 month, 4 times a month for 1 to 1.5 hours each meeting and each group is renewable.

What commitment do you expect from me?

Commit to participate in all meetings, show up on time, participate in the “hot seat”,  offer help to others when you have something to give, listen fully, and ask clarifying questions when needed.

What if I miss a meeting?

It is important to attend all meeting. However, when vacations and emergencies occur, please notify the facilitator in advance.

How many people are in the group?

The ideal number is between 6 and 8, but we do start with fewer members and grow as we get interested people who fit with the other members.

Who is in the group? Who is the ideal member?

Our first track is a BUSINESS focused group meeting, meetings are on Saturday mornings and new members are invited in every first Saturday of the month. This group is a business focused group designed to help you meet your life goals as they apply to business.

Our second track is a PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT track and focuses on a broader range of needs. Transformation Tuesday and Thursdays are evening sessions and allow new members  in every first Tuesday and Thursday the month. This track is designed to help us establish and meet our goals as they apply to helping us live our best lives. include health, relationships, mindset and also business.

What about confidentiality?

Confidentiality is taken seriously. For a successful mastermind meeting, members have to know that what they say stays within the group. Therefore, every member is asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

How will I measure my progress with the group?

In our first meeting, every member sets their long term and 90 day goals. At each meeting, you tell the group what you’ve accomplished since the last meeting, where you’re stuck, and what’s your next action/goal for the next meeting.

What happens after I join?

You will receive an email with the suggested group guidelines, non-disclosure agreement, proposed agenda for our meetings and  a goal-setting worksheet. There will be an introductory meeting. In this Kickstart meeting, we get to know each other, discuss the guidelines, agenda and set goals. Before each of the six meetings, you’ll get an email with the meeting video conference access.

Before each meeting, you are welcomed to email us a list the issues you want to mastermind and your accomplishments since the last meeting.

How Much Is This and How Do I Get Started?

If you do your research, you’ll find that groups like this filled with Fortune 1000 CEO’s can run upwards of $100,000 a year! What?!!! Yep. The big companies are continually investing heavily in boards and in the development of their top level executives. Are you and your business losing money because you aren’t investing in the right things? Is your family, relationship, or health suffering because you are too stubborn to reach out and let others help you? Let us help!
